ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

“May I never be remembered for what I have hunted, rather for how I hunted “. Anon

Ghaap Safaris derives its name from the unique Ghaap Plateau which is the base from where we pursue our noble quarry with grace and decorum. In a bygone era, this plateau was frequented by the masters of hunting, the San people, who aptly named it after an edible succulent plant which they called the “ghaap”,the flower of which is depicted in our logo. The stem pith of this plant is edible and has the power of banishing hunger for a day or two.

The dolomitic nature of the area gives rise to enduring bubbling fountains, vleis and pans which are the core around which life revolves in this alluring place. With its age-old vistas of weathered rock, the sharp escarpment with its deeply incised ravines serves to conceal many a skulking beast. These rugged sun-drenched landscapes together with the contrasting gentle perfume of the wild camphor bush makes this area a must for the discerning hunter. But alas there is more, beyond this feature lies a wilderness of endless beauty and unparalleled adventure, called South Africa. On offer is a variation in topography, vegetation and wildlife that is designed to test your hunting skills and endurance to the full.
